Shoe Repair Services
We perform all sorts of shoe repair and restoration services. Here are a few of the most popular services.
Soles
We repair soles or else replace them with new soles, which we carefully glue or stitch into place. We use only top-quality European leather and anti-slip rubber soles to ensure comfort and longevity. Learn more about our shoe sole repair, shoe resole, shoe sole protector and shoe toe plate services.
Full flat soles
Loafers, boat shoes and sneakers typically have one full sole, rather than a sole that's separate from or shorter than the heel. We replace the full sole, stitching or gluing a new one to the base of the shoe. Learn more about our shoe sole replacement services.
Inner linings
The inner lining fabric often tears or shows significant wear over time. We patch these tears using custom-cut leather patches or replace the lining entirely where necessary.
Straps
We repair damaged shoe straps or replace them entirely with new straps, including any velcro on their underside.
Zippers
Zipper damage doesn't spell the end of a great pair of shoes or boots. We can repair your original zippers or replace them with top-quality new ones if need be.
Eyelets
These are metallic rings around holes in leather/fabric, typically decorative or used to thread shoe laces. We replace them where damaged and can even add new ones where necessary.
Stretching
Having to 'break in' shoes is often the most annoying part of wearing a new pair. We use specialised machinery to carefully stretch shoes based on your preferences. Learn more about our shoe stretching services.
Waterproofing / stain protection
Waterproofing is a necessity for new shoes, particularly suede shoes, to keep them looking sharp in, and in spite of, all types of weather. Learn more about our shoe waterproofing services.
Polish / shine
We remove light dirt and apply conditioners to carefully polish your shoes and restore colour to the edges of your soles and heels. Your shoes will look fresh as ever.
Heels
Heels can be so worn that heel blocks themselves are damaged, affecting your balance and posture while walking. We build up damaged heels or replace them entirely. We can also adjust the height of heels to better suit body heights and preferences. Learn more about our shoe heel repair services.
Heel tips
Heel tips make all the difference when it comes to comfortably enjoying your favourite heels. We stock various types of heel tips, and always recommend replacing plastic tips with anti-slip rubber ones to ensure comfort and longevity. Learn more about our heel tip replacement services.
Insoles
A comfortable insole makes all the difference when it comes to enjoying a shoe. We replace stock insoles with orthopaedic ones or custom-cut ones that match your shoe's shape.
Elastic gussets
Even on the most rigour-proof shoes, elastic gussets are easily worn. We can replace them with top-quality gussets to get your shoes feeling snug but flexible again.
Buckles
We repair damaged buckles, and can replace them with entirely new buckles if the existing ones are irreparable.
Stitching
We repair damaged stitching on shoes with matching string, removing existing string and restitching lines entirely if need be.
Dye / recolouring
We use spirit dyes that soak into the shoe's leather, permanently changing its colour. This matches the dyeing process typically used in the manufacture of high-end shoes and other leather goods.
Surface clean / restoration
Shoe surfaces are easily scuffed, cracked or otherwise damaged. We polish out scuffs, clean shoes to remove dirt and stains, and recondition leather. And we even repair deeper surface damage with invisible stitching and patching. Learn more about our shoe cleaning and restoration services.

Why you should order a shoe repair
Shoes are in many ways the ultimate fashion item — they connect us to the world, by not only physically protecting our feet from its surfaces but also signalling to the world who we are. It is no surprise then that we come to form strong connections with the shoes we wear.
The average person walks several thousand steps per day, so your shoes might be forgiven for accumulating a few gnarly scars along the way. But you’re probably struggling to find reliable shoe repairmen nearby, and you have lived without your favourite pair of shoes for months or continued wearing them knowing they’re about to bite the dust. With the abundance of affordable new shoes, it can be tempting to simply throw out rather than repair shoes.
But there is hope for your favourite shoes and no need for them to end up in a landfill, along with the other 22 billion pairs disposed of annually — each having pumped 14 kilograms of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere during their production.
Whether you wear stylish, designer shoes that help you put your best foot forward and walk with confidence or more practical, everyday shoes that keep you on your feet safely and comfortably, we are here to keep your shoes doing what they do best.
Why SoleHeeled is the best shoe repair service
With the click of a button, we offer free shipping, the highest quality craftsmanship and excellent customer service on all shoe repairs — often for a fraction of the replacement cost.
Utmost convenience
We service customers throughout Australia through our free shipping service that makes getting quality shoe repairs near you easier than ever.
Simply order your shoe repair online. Then either drop your shoes off at our workshop (if you're in Sydney) or at your local post office, where staff will package up your shoes and ship them over to us for free. We'll then repair your shoes and return them to your door.
Meanwhile, you can rest assured that your shoes are in safe hands, with secure packaging, insurance and tracking whenever the shoes are in transit.
It's really as easy and hassle-free as that.
Quality craftsmanship
The age-old craft of shoe repairing and shoe restoration has been handed down through 3 generations of our family since 1955.
We care deeply about the quality of our work — and it shows. From humble beginnings in Sydney, we have become trusted repairers fixing shoes for generations of Australians and a range of local and international designer brands.
Our craftsman are experienced with not only high-end leather shoe repair services, but also sneaker repairs and boot repairs, and everything from the most basic heel tip replacement to the most complex orthopaedic modifications and leather restoration work. We have relationships with local and international suppliers of the highest quality materials and we have the scale in our workshop to ensure your shoes are taken care of and returned to you promptly.
Friendly, dependable customer service
Most people don’t consider getting a shoe repair online. While they don't feel quite comfortable leaving their shoe repairs to a local cobbler, the thought of shipping their shoes off to shoe repairmen they have never met might not come naturally.
However, as an online service, trust is the lifeblood of our business. We understand that every customer is entrusting us with their shoes, and that it is on us to earn that trust through each and every interaction.
We have developed a reputation as the best shoe repair service around due to not only the high standard of our actual shoe repair work but also the effort we make to ensure our customers have a wonderful experience, from start to finish.
Frequently Asked Questions
Shoe repair prices tend to vary significantly depending on the type of repair service provided. For example: basic shoe repairs, such as heel tip replacements, can cost as little as $49; meanwhile, complex shoe repairs, such as full resoles, can range between $159–229.
Other factors affecting the cost of a shoe repair include the quality of materials used and the standard of work offered. For example, when replacing insoles, we might install a pair of off-the-shelf comfort insoles on a pair of casual shoes, but we would likely custom cut by hand a pair of leather insoles for a pair of dress shoes or stilettos.
If you'd like a price for repairing your shoes, complete our order form. You'll be able to upload photos and describe the work you're looking for before getting an instant quote based on your selections or requesting a custom quote.
The fact that most shoes can be affordably repaired does not necessarily mean that they should be.
Some shoes were built to last, priced accordingly, and are worth repairing until they can be repaired no more. Generally speaking, these sorts of shoes are constructed in such a way that makes repairing or restoring them fairly straightforward and economical.
However, some shoes are unfortunately not designed or built to last. The shoe constructions that are cheapest to manufacture and allow us to purchase inexpensive shoes are also what make repairing those shoes impossible or at least difficult, and therefore relatively expensive.
In any case, beauty is in the eye of the beholder — and so is value. A pair of shoes that seems worthless and run-down to one person might be priceless or indispensable to another person, for a variety of reasons specific to that person. Those shoes would be worth repairing for those reasons alone.
The traditional option would be to physically take your shoes to a local cobbler. But that's probably a little too inconvenient and you might not be quite sure whether you're going to get the sort of quality work and service you deserve. Another option would be to take the shoes back to wherever you bought them. But retail staff are rarely trained in, or able to give enough attention to, post-sales repairs.
SoleHeeled is a better, easier way to get your shoes repaired by Australia's best craftsmen.
The process is very quick and easy — promise!
- Complete our online order form, where you'll be able to upload photos and describe the work you'd like done to the shoes. You'll get an instant quote based on your selections and then choose to either proceed with an order or request a custom quote.
- Once we've reviewed your order, we'll email you instructions for getting your shoes to us. If you live in Sydney, you'll have the option to drop the shoes off at our workshop. Otherwise, you'll be able to drop them off at a local Australia Post office, where they'll be packaged and shipped over to us for free.
- Once we receive your shoes, we'll repair and return them to you via Australia Post.
The time it takes to complete a shoe repair depends on the work required and the workload in the workshop when the shoes are received.
We are generally able to complete basic repairs within 2-5 business days of receiving shoes at the workshop. This extends to 1-2 weeks for most specialist repairs and longer for more complex repairs and restorations.
If you will be using our free shipping service (rather than dropping off and picking up your shoes at the workshop), then you should also factor in shipping time via Australia Post. This varies depending on your location, but generally takes no more than a few business days if you're in a metropolitan area and otherwise up to 5 business days (if you're in a regional or remote area).
We always use high-quality materials. While we often consult with customers on which particular materials we use for a repair (e.g., when choosing the type of sole on a shoe resole or the colour of a replacement buckle), we never take shortcuts with lower-quality materials.
In some cases, we use original parts manufactured by shoe brands (e.g., original soles and heels for RM Williams boots) or materials made especially for shoe brands (e.g., red protective rubber soles made especially for Christian Louboutin shoes).
Yes, we stock a wide range of premium shoe care and leather care products you can use to extend the life of your shoes. We'd be happy to ship these to you. Simply mention what you're looking for while completing our online order form (if you're also planning to get your shoes repaired), or contact us (if you're not planning to get your shoes repaired).
From the moment you submit your online order form, you'll be able to track everything online, throughout the process of getting your shoes repaired.
Whenever your shoes are in transit with Australia Post (whether on their way to us or back to you), they will be not only securely packaged but also tracked and insured. You will have a parcel tracking number and receive real-time shipping updates by email.
Yes, you can drop off and pick up your shoes at our workshop in Martin Place, Sydney, provided that:
- You first complete your order online;
- You let us know (in the order form or by contacting us) that you'd like to drop off and/or pick up at the workshop; and
- We have emailed you a unique ticket, which you'll need to print out and hand over at the workshop for ID and proof of payment.
Otherwise, we service all of Australia through our easy and secure shipping service.
