The shoes
The heel blocks on these Christian Louboutin Loubi Queen leather sandals had been severely scratched and torn, leaving the shoes looking old and worn. When the customer reached out to us for a free diagnosis / quote, we offered to replace the heel tips and replace the heel blocks, covering / wrapping them with entirely new leather.
Heel block re-covering / re-wrapping
We worked through the following steps to repair the heel blocks:
We peeled off the old leather around the back of the heel blocks and peeled back the red leather on the inside of the heel blocks.
We removed the heel blocks, detaching them from the shoes’ uppers, and then cleaned off all the old residue (mainly glue) from them.
Having sourced a suitable replacement leather from our suppliers, we cut two pieces from this leather matching the shape of the leather we’d removed from the outside of the heel blocks.
We carefully glued the new leather pieces into place around the outside of the heel blocks.
We reattached the heel blocks to the shoes’ uppers and glued down the original red leather on the inside of the heel blocks.
We replaced the heel tips with a sturdier, rubber pair in a matching colour.
We did some minor leather work to restore the leather just above the heel blocks, on the shoes’ uppers — cleaning off the accumulated dirt and then polishing and lightly touching up the discoloured leather.
