The shoes
These Valentino Rockstud pumps had fallen victim to a naughty dog, which had chewed through much of the leather around the back of one of the shoes. When the customer reached out to us for a free diagnosis/quote, we offered to restore the shoes by replacing the damaged leather along the insoles and around the footbeds and heel blocks.
Chewed leather repair
Much of the leather around the back of the affected shoe was unfortunately damaged beyond repair and so needed to be replaced.
We began by removing the heel blocks, and the replacing the damaged parts one-by-one.
We replaced the insoles with a new pair that we custom cut from a premium leather like the original and onto which we carefully stitched the original Valentino tags. We did this on both shoes in the pair for consistency.
We then re-wrapped the damage footbed with entirely new leather that we carefully selected and custom recoloured / refinished to match the colour and finish of the original leather. We performed similar work on the damaged heel block, using a black patent leather like the original.
With regard to both the footbed and the heel block, the inner non-leather material was heavily damaged, so before wrapping these parts with new leather we used a specialist filler material to replace the missing material and smooth its surface.
We finally screwed the heel blocks back into place and installed a new pair of durable rubber heel tips.
