Handle replacement
We removed the old handles and then unpicked the stitching to separate the leather from the interior piping. We then cut new pieces of patent leather based on the size and shape of the original pieces. Having glued and then stitched these leather pieces around the original interior piping, as well as applied a layer of wax to the edges of the leather, we then looped the ends of the handles through the original hardware and riveted the handles into place.
