The shoes

These Hermes Oran sandals were brand new, though the soles and heels were unprotected, leaving them prone to accelerated wear. When the customer reached out to us for a free diagnosis/quote, we installed new pairs of premium rubber sole protectors and custom-made, protective heel caps.

Sole protector installation

We started by selecting a pair of premium rubber sole protectors made by Casali in Italy. These are available in a range of colours and finishes, though in case, we selected black protectors with a satin (or matte) finish. We then lightly sanded the original soles, to create space for the rubber to sit flush with the rest of the soles (rather than on top), and adhered the sole protectors into place. We finished this work by sanding down and polishing the edges.

Protective heel cap installation

The original heel caps on these shoes are made with a ‘quarter-rubber’ design, with rubber at the back, and leather around the front. While the placement of the rubber is such that this absorbs much of the impact on the heel caps where they tend to wear down the fastest, the leather parts remain prone to accelerated wear and tear.

We installed a new pair of heel caps that we custom made based on the design of the original caps, except we made them significantly more durable by substituting the leather with the same sort of protective rubber we installed on the soles.
