The bag
The leather handles and shoulder strap on this Givenchy Antigona bag were sticky and disintegrating. When the customer reached out to us for a free diagnosis / quote, we offered to replace the handles and the strap with entirely new custom-made ones.
Handle replacement
We began by unstitching the leather handles from the body of the bag. Whilst the leather on the handles was in bad shape, the tubing within (that helps the hold the shape of the handles) was in good condition. So we re-wrapped the tubing with entirely new leather like the original leather — smooth and glossy in texture — and stitched the handles into place. In order to do this cleanly, we had to undo and then re-seal the fabric lining on the inside of the bag.
Strap replacement
Using the same sort of leather we used to remake the handles, we then proceeded to craft an entirely new strap based on the design of the original strap and with the original hardware retained.
