SoleHeeled offers convenient and affordable Nike sneakers restorations by Australia’s best craftsmen, with free shipping to your door. This case study outlines how we recently restored a customer’s Nike sneakers.
One of the lace tabs on these Nike Dunk Low Panda sneaker had been chewed on by a dog, leaving the leather heavily torn. When the customer reached out to us for a free diagnosis/quote, we offered to repaired the leather, using a thin leather patch to seal up the tear and reinforce the leather against further damage.
Tear repair
We began by carefully slicing off the loose leather left by the tear. We then selected a suitable leather like the existing and cut to size a piece that fit the tear. We carefully shaped the leather patch by skiving (i.e. thinning) and burnishing (i.e. smoothing) the edges and also punching a hole (based on the location of the original hole on the torn lace tab). We then adhered and stitched the patch into place, following the original stitching lines.
