The shoes
These Christian Dior J’Adior Slingback Pumps were brand new, with the original leather soles having hardly touched the ground. When the customer reached out to us for a free diagnosis/quote, we offered to install protective soles to prevent irreversible wear to the original leather soles as well as improve grip for the wearer.
Leather sole protection
Natural leather soles (like those on this pair of shoes) are an iconic detail on many designer shoes. These soles are famous for elegance and comfort — but they can wear down very quickly with wear. Because of this, many customers prefer to install protective soles as a preventative measure, before the soles are irreversibly worn into.
The process involves us carefully sanding down the leather soles on the front half of the shoes to create room for the new soles to sit flush with the rest of the original leather soles. This method is tried and true because it avoids any adverse effect on the profile, balance or comfort of the shoes.
We then installed a new pair of thin, rubber soles protectors. In this case, we used Italian-made Casali sole protectors that are made with a silk-like finish and in a variety of colours that blend in more seamlessly with the original leather soles.
