SoleHeeled offers convenient and affordable DKNY bag repairs by Australia’s best craftsmen, with free shipping to your door. This case study outlines how we recently repaired a customer’s DKNY bag.
The bag
The wax edging on the leather straps of this DKNY Bryant tote bag had come apart, leaving the leather dangerously exposed to irreversible damage with continued use. When this customer reached out to us for a free diagnosis/quote, we offered to re-wax the edging.
Strap edging replacement
We started by removing the old wax edging — now that it had come apart, it would soon do so again if we tried to simply glue it back on. We did this by peeling off the old wax and then shaving off any remnants of it. We then prepped the leather edges of the straps and used special equipment to carefully apply new layers of black edge paint to the sides of the straps. This highly dense paint sets with a hard, wax-like texture, protecting the layers of leather along the straps’ edges.
