The bag
This Louis Vuitton Deauville handbag is a supremely well made bag, designed to last a lifetime or more when looked after. However, the leather loops connecting the handles to the body of this bag were heavily worn and torn, causing one of the handles to come apart. When the customer reached out to us for a free diagnosis / quote, we offered to replace the leather loops with entirely new, reinforced leather.
Leather loop replacement
In order to access the loops, we needed to undo the lining on the inside of the bag and then unstitch the thread that surrounded each loop. Having removed the damaged leather, we crafted four strips of leather from a fresh vachetta leather hide and proceeded to reinforce the leather from underneath. We finally stitched the new leather loops into place and carefully re-stitched everything back into place, following the original stitching lines.
