SoleHeeled offers convenient and affordable Chanel bag repairs by Australia’s best craftsmen, with free shipping to your door. This case study outlines how we recently modified a customer’s Chanel bag.
The bag
While Chanel shoulder bags typically come with a signature chain strap with leather woven through its links, this one was made with a quilted leather strap — which the customer was not particularly fond of. When the customer reached out to us for a free diagnosis / quote, we offered to replace the leather strap with a Chanel-style chain strap.
Strap replacement
We carefully removed the old leather strap by undoing the stitching that held it in place and then carefully re-stitching these leather panels back together. We then connected a series of gold-plated chain links (to a length specified by the customer) with lobster clasps added at the ends, and we then crafted a thin leather strap which we wove through the chain links. We then clipped this new chain strap into a pair of D-rings that we had installed (with attached leather loops) on either side of the interior of the bag.
