The rubber heel caps on these Allen Edmonds Park Avenue Oxford shoes were worn down, with the wearer close to wearing into the leather heel stacks above them. When the customer reached out to us for a free diagnosis/quote, we offered to reheel the shoes with a new pair of highly durable rubber heel caps.

Heel cap replacement

We began by carefully removing the old heel caps (the rubber layer at the base of the heels) from the heel blocks. While the rubber heel caps were significantly worn (especially around the backs) the leather heel blocks had not yet been worn into. This is the best time for a reheel so as to avoid the additional work involved in rebuilding worn heel blocks.

Once the old heel caps were removed, we adhered into place a new pair of highly durable Vibram rubber heel caps, sanding down and shaping the sides to fit the profile and style of the original heels.
