Great customer service and great repairs! Their website is very user friendly as well. I sent them a handbag with a broken zipper/runner, and they sent me a price breakdown based on the level of damage on it. No complaints here!

Bag Zipper Repair Services
Damage to the zippers on bags is a common issue, with the constant opening and closing of zippers causing the hardware and the fabric surrounding the zippers to wear and tear. You might be looking to learn how to fix a zipper on a bag yourself or thinking about sending your bag to landfill, but getting a professional zipper repair or replacement can be both economical and convenient.
We have been offering top-notch bag zipper repair services since 1955. Whether you need a zipper repaired or replaced, and whether the zipper is on a backpack, briefcase or luxury handbag, we have the experience and know-how to get the job done and to a level of quality others cannot match.
We understand how difficult it can be to find a repairer you can trust to properly fix a broken zipper on your bag, so we make it easy for all Australians to get their bag zipper replacement or repair by trusted experts through a free and easy shipping service.
Bag Zipper Repair
Zipper repairs on bags can take a variety of forms depending on the damage involved. Generally speaking, a zipper can be repaired when the zipper’s teeth are neither damaged nor missing and the fabric surrounding the teeth is not torn or otherwise heavily worn — otherwise, a bag zipper replacement would probably be necessary.
Zipper Stitching Repair
When the zipper tears away from the body of the bag without the fabric around the zipper's teeth having torn apart, the zipper can be stitched back into place.
Zipper Runner Stop Installation
When a zipper can't be repaired, an economical option is to 'terminate' the zipper just before the point at which it is damaged, to prevent the runner 'derailing' over that spot.
Zipper Pull Repair / Replacement
The zipper pull is held on to when the zipper is closed or opened, and generally made of either leather or metal. Whe zipper pulls are damaged or missing, they can be repaired or replaced — usually with a piece similar (but not necessarily identical) to the original.
Zipper Runner Adjustment / Replacement
The zipper runner (aka zipper slider) can gradually become loose, causing it to 'derail' or leave the teeth unlocked behind it. We adjust loose runners to tighten them back up or else replace them with entirely new ones that fit the zipper.
Bag Zipper Replacement
A bag zipper replacement can be performed when the damaged zipper cannot otherwise be repaired — generally because the zipper’s teeth or the surrounding fabric are damaged. We replace zippers with high-quality YKK zippers manufactured for utmost durability and used almost universally by luxury bag designers. These zippers are stitched into place, along the original stitching lines.

Frequently Asked Questions
It's all very quick and easy — promise!
- Complete our online order form, where you'll be able to upload photos and describe the work you'd like done to the bag. You'll get an instant quote based on your selection and then choose to either proceed with an order or request a custom quote.
- Once we've reviewed your order, we'll email you instructions for getting your bag to us. If you live in Sydney, you'll have the option to drop the bag off at our workshop. Otherwise, you'll be able to drop it off at a local Australia Post office, where it will be packaged and shipped over to us for free.
- Once we receive your bag, we'll repair or replace the zipper and then return the bag to you via Australia Post.
A bag zipper repair generally costs $79 — particularly where the runner (aka the zipper slider, or the metal piece that runs along the zipper's teeth) is adjusted or replaced. If the zipper cannot be repaired and so needs to be replaced, then the cost to do so varies between $129 and $179. These prices include GST and free shipping.
A bag zipper separating is usually a sign of a loose runner (aka zipper slider) — the runner is supposed to lock the zipper's teeth together as it moves along the zipper, but will fail to do so if it has become loose, through gradual wear. The solution to a separating zipper generally involves tightening the runner or else replacing it with an entirely new one.
The time it takes to complete a zipper repair varies depending on the particular work required and the workload in the workshop when the bag is received.
We are generally able to complete basic zipper repairs within 1-2 weeks of receiving bags at the workshop. This extends to 2-3 weeks for most specialist repairs and longer for more complex repairs and restorations.
If you will be using our free shipping service (rather than dropping off and picking up your bag at the workshop), then you should also factor in shipping time via Australia Post. This varies depending on your location, but generally takes no more than a few business days if you're in a metropolitan area and otherwise up to 5 business days (if you're in a regional or remote area).
Once you submit your online order form, you'll be given a token that allows you to track everything online, throughout the process of getting your bag repaired.
And whenever your bag is in transit (whether on its way to our workshop or back to you via Australia Post), you'll have a parcel tracking number and receive real-time shipping notifications by email.
Yes, you can drop off and pick up your bag at our workshop in Martin Place, Sydney provided that:
- You first complete your order online;
- You let us know (in the order form or by follow up email) that you'd like to drop off and/or pick up at the workshop; and
- We have emailed you a ticket that you'll need to print out and hand over at the workshop for ID and proof of payment.
The zipper on this MCM All-Over backpack was broken and needed replacement. We replaced the damaged zipper with a brand new one to which we attached the original pulls.
