The shoes

These Chloé Lauren Studded Ballet Flats were almost brand new, having been worn only a few times. But the leather soles and heels had already started to show wear, with significant accumulation of dirt and discolouration. When the customer reached out to us for a free diagnosis/quote, we offered to re-heel the shoes and add a pair of protective rubber soles over the top of the leather.

Heel replacement

We removed the existing ‘three-quarter leather’ heels and replaced them with full rubber heels. While the leather tends to offer greater aesthetic value, the leather loses its colour and wears down very quickly, whereas the rubber heels are made of a high-grade rubber and significantly more durable.

Protective rubber soles

We first cleaned the leather soles before adding a pair of protective rubber soles over the top of them. These rubber soles are very thin — about as thin as a 10 cent coin. We also sliced the rubber soles carefully at the ends so that they sit flush with the rest of the leather soles and used a tan colour close to the colour of the original leather (although these protective rubber soles come in a range of colours).
