The shoes
These Chanel slingback shoes were in good condition, but the leather uppers were scuffed and discoloured, and the soles were heavily worn. When the customer reached out to us for a free diagnosis/quote, we offered to repair and protect the soles and to restore the leather uppers.
Colour restoration
We began by cleaning and conditioning the leather throughout the shoes. This allowed us to remove dirt and impurities from the surface of the leather and also prepare the leather for the colour restoration process. Once the leather was dry, we proceeded to custom mix a colour based on the existing and use that to touch up the discoloured leather around the sides of the shoes and the heel blocks.
Sole Protection
We began by carefully sanding the surface of the soles to clean away some of the accumulated dirt on the surface and to create a smooth bed into which the new sole protectors could be installed — to sit flush with the rest of the original soles and avoid altering the profile of the shoes. In this case, we used premium rubber protective soles made by Casali in Italy. These are available with a premium, smooth finish, they retain their nude colour while worn, and they significantly improve the longevity of the soles and also traction for the wearer.
